What is California's Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to California's residents about exposure to chemicals that may cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

Prop 65 requires the state of California to keep a list of substances that may cause cancer or reproductive toxicity in humans or animals.

The list contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals that are known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals include additives or ingredients in pesticides, common household products, food, drugs, dyes, or solvents. Listed chemicals may also be used in manufacturing and construction, or they may be byproducts of chemical processes, such as motor vehicle exhaust.

To comply with California law, items sold by JOLLY STORE Crafts include a Prop 65 warning because the item purchased may contain 1 or more chemicals known to the state of California as harmful at certain exposure levels. Due to variations in manufacturing, production batches, and access to testing data, we have included this warning for all products regardless of exposure level which may fall within or below industry limits.
